Bitmain introduces ‘most power-efficient’ bitcoin miner to date
Bitmain has announced their new Antminer S19 XP Hyd. According to the Chinese company, the ASIC miner is the most power-efficient model they have ever produced.
Liquid-cooled bitcoin miner
The Antminer S19 XP Hyd. is a new version of the Antminer S19 XP, with the main difference being the liquid cooling technique the new miner has. The rig can get rid of its heat more efficiently by cooling the miner with liquid, leading to higher power efficiency.
Looking at the listing on the Bitmain website, we see that the new miner can produce 255 terahashes per second (TH/s) while consuming about 5,304 watts in power. The Antminer S19 XP Hyd.’s overall power efficiency is 20.8 joules per terahash (J/T), making it more efficient than its air-cooled cousin. The S19 XP has a power efficiency of 21.5 J/T at 140 TH/s. The miner has a price tag of about $20.000. Shipments will start in the first quarter of next year.
The new S19 XP Hyd. is designed to be placed in Bitmain’s mining containers. These containers can house more than 200 miners, with large cooling radiators to which liquid-cooled miners can be connected. Bitmain recently introduced their new ANTSPACE HK3 container that houses enough miners to consume about 1 megawatt of power.
Higher BTC mining efficiency
As the bitcoin miner manufacturers keep innovating, the efficiency of bitcoin miners is constantly improving. Aside from the fact that this is interesting for mining farm operators, as they earn better profits, it also means that the overall Bitcoin network is getting more efficient.
