With the ongoing energy crisis, the interest in different renewable energy sources has soared globally. Solar energy especially has struck the interest of many consumers as the potential of the sun’s rays can profit most of us. Even though we all do not have equal resources to clad our roofs with shiny new solar panels, most consumers consume solar energy secondhand supplied through electricity grids. To optimize the untapped potential of this burning star we voyage around once a year, and more efficient means of harvesting the sunlight are necessary. In most cases, the ideal solution is found in solar farms.
Different kinds of solar farms
Solar farms, also known as solar parks or by their fancier name ‘photovoltaic power stations,’ are large-scale sun-fueled power systems connected to a grid and designed to supply the electricity market. Unlike their consumer counterparts, solar farm solar panels are often mounted to the ground and spread on larger areas. Usually, solar farms can be divided into two main types, utility-scale solar farms, and community solar farms.
The difference between these two types is the scale since utility-scaled solar farms are larger than community solar farms. Speaking in numbers, while utility-scale solar farms can harness a capacity of 1 MW – 2,000 MW, community solar farms tend to go under 5 MW or even down to a hundred kiloWatts. Another difference between these two types of solar farms comes from whom the energy is supplied. In community solar farms, the receivers in the grid are those subscribing members to pay for their share of the power. In solar utility farms, however, the power lines are owned by a smaller party, usually a single utility company or other entity.
Find suitable solar energy solutions
Solar farms are a result of refined engineering, but the potential of solar energy remains untapped as many great locations are yet to be found. However, suppose you or your company has a goal for a better future. In that case, GNR Energy can help you discover the optimal way to harness solar power by finding, managing, and creating renewable solar solutions tailored just for you.
